You've got your relocation booked and now it's time for the fun part - planning all your stops along the way. Whether you're going from Germany to France, or all the way down to Spain or Portugal we've got something for everyone.
Munich
The majority of our European relocations are departing from Munich this Summer. Whether you're from nearby or you're flying in specifically for the relocation, make sure you leave some time beforehand to explore all Munich has to offer.
Castle Day Trip
Neuschwanstein Castle is nicknamed the Cinderella Castle for a reason. If you have some time spare in Munich before your relocation we recommend this day tour which takes you from Munich to the castle, as well as Linderhof Palace. Book here.
Viktualienmarkt
If you love food markets as much as we do, Viktualienmarkt is a must-do. It began over 200 years ago and there's over 100 stalls to choose from between Monday-Saturday. If your vehicle has kitchen facilities then stock up on some local produce for the trip.
Marienplatz
Grab a coffee in Munich's main square and watch one of the daily clock tower shows.
Once you get on the road, we recommend stopping at Obsersee Bodensee (below) which is just 2 hours away. It's right at the border of Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
As you make your way into Switzerland you're spoiled for choice with lakes, hikes, and all round natural beauty.
St Gallen
Stop off in this picturesque town known for its Abbey and ateliers.
Zurich
It wouldn't be a trip to Switzerland without some chocolate. Visit the iconic Lindt chocolate factory and get some snacks for the journey! You can book your ticket here.
Rhine Falls
Only a 30 min drive from Zurich is Rhine Falls, Europe's largest waterfall.
Lucerne
When in Lucerne you can go on a 1 hour cruise round the lake on a yacht. You can book here.
Interlaken
Depending on your route Interlaken may by slightly out the way, but it's worth the extra miles in our opinion. There's an endless list of things to do here whether it's paragliding, river rafting, a cheese workshop, kayaking, or a canyon swing.
Lyon
Next up is Lyon, some routes from Munich finish up here but it's worth the stop regardless.
Tete D'Or is France's largest urban park and a great budget friendly activity to stretch the legs.
Take a stroll round the picturesque old town.
If history is your thing, make sure to visit the Roman ruins.
Bordeaux
Take a half day trip out to a chateau in the French countryside to sample some local wine. You can book a tour here. (Obviously we only recommend this if you'll be staying the night around Bordeaux - don't drink and drive!)
San Sebastian
Once you cross the border into Spain make San Sebastian your next stop. Spend the morning surfing and for dinner forget tapas and go hunting for pintxos instead - thank us later.
Bilbao
Bilbao is the final stop for many of our summer relocations. It's often forgotten and overshadowed by Madrid and Barcelona, but we think Bilbao is extremely underrated. There's the Old Town, Guggenheim and Mercado de la Ribera (Europe's largest market) to name a few.
These are just a few suggestions to get your planning started, but after all one of the best parts of a roadtrip is finding undiscovered gems along the way π€© Make sure to let us know where you end up, we love seeing when customers tag us in their roadtrip content πΈ
Safe travels π
